Emerging as a fully formed enigma from her native New Zealand, Lorde blends deeply artful, literate songwriting with electronic and psych-pop hooks. Since bursting into the public consciousness with 2013's "Royals" and her international smash debut Pure Heroine, the singer/songwriter has garnered cross-generational acclaim, earning respect from established artists like Bruce Springsteen and Jack White (both of whom covered "Royals"), while simultaneously becoming an icon for a generation who feel older than their years; a stylistic vibe that paved the way for the arty, confessional indie pop of artist like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Troye Sivan. Her sophomore album, 2017's Melodrama, topped the charts in multiple countries while receiving a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year and winning New Zealand's Album of the Year award.
